Useful advices for the first time traveling passengers

Air travel is easier and less stressful if you plan in advance- here are some tips:

  • Know your baggage allowance and use your bathroom scales to weigh it before you leave for the airport.
  • Leave some space for any souvenirs and gifts you might buy on your trip
  • Don’t pack any valuables or fragile items in your checked baggage.
  • Don’t pack your passport; visa’s or other travel documents because you won’t be able to access your baggage after you check-in
  • Take cash or a credit card to pay any Excess Baggage charges
  • Label your bags with your name and destination address ( never use your home address) and/or your e-mail or mobile phone number
  • If there are straps on your baggage please secure them otherwise they could get caught and rip your baggage
  • Remove old tags and labels from previous flights.

Passports

Every passenger, including infants and children requires a passport valid for international travel. In addition to a passport, citizens of certain countries (including Ukraine) require a, Visa to enter the  foreign countries.

Plan your packing

To avoid any delays or disruptions to your travel plans, it is recommended that you:

  • Arrive at the airport early enough for all formalities to be completed
  • Do not carry baggage/items for other people
  • Ensure that you do not have any knives, scissors, needles or sharp objects in your hand baggage or pockets before the pre-flight check
  • Take only one piece of hand baggage with you
  • Allow extra time for connections at your transit airport (at least 90 minutes)
  • Go to the gate early, allowing time for pre-boarding procedures
  • Follow procedures and instructions of the security officers in the airport or crew on board.

Airport Security

After check you check in, go immediately through security because there may be long queues and flights won’t wait for you.

As you approach the security check remove your coat or jacket; take your laptop and liquids out of your hand bag for separate screening and be prepared to remove your shoes and belt if requested.

Your hand baggage will be checked by security staff using x-ray machinery. If you have film material over 1000 ASA or are fitted with a heart pacemaker please inform the security screening staff.

Hand Baggage Rules

If you are travelling from or via an EU airport there are restrictions on the amount of liquids you may take through the security check point- liquids, such as bottles of water, that are purchased after the security check, may be taken onboard.

All liquid containers must be carried in a separate clear plastic, zip-top or re-sealable bag that does not exceed 20 cm x 20cm (8 inches x 8 inches) or equivalent to one litre capacity. Liquids must be held in individual containers not exceeding 100ml (approximately 3.5 fl. oz). Items must fit in the bag comfortably and the bag must be completely closed.

At the airport security search, the plastic bag must be removed from the cabin baggage and x-ray screened separately.

Do not take sharp objects in your hand baggage that will be confiscated at security.

Health

You should be familiar with the full range of health risks likely to be encountered at specific destinations and associated with different types of travel – from business, humanitarian and leisure travel to backpacking and adventure tours.

You should protect your self against insect bites and remember to pack prescription medicines and any other items you need for your trip.
